Whether you want to experience the best Mother Nature has to offer or just want an enjoyable indoor past time with friends, there are Awbrey Glen members ready to join you. For the outdoor types we have:
Biking (Mountain and Road)
These groups preselect and publish a set of rides to enjoy during the warmer months. You know the length and difficulty of the ride before you go. We all meet in the upper Awbrey Glen parking lot and car pool to the trailhead or parking area.
Spring and summer are ideal times to enjoy the lakes and rivers around us. We select a set of beautiful, easy-to-paddle destinations to enjoy on a regular basis. Everyone meets in the upper Awbrey Glen parking lot and caravans to the site.
“Informality” best describes the fishing group. Members range from knowledgeable and experienced “experts” to novices. We have monthly luncheon meetings to exchange information about places to fish locally, appropriate equipment and flies, organize trips, and brag about who caught the biggest fish.
Come take a walk with your fellow Awbrey Glen hikers. As with the bikers, we publish a schedule of hikes with length and elevation change to help you select the right trip.
Nordic skiers meet at the upper Awbrey Glen parking lot at 8:30 AM, weather permitting. The group usually goes to Virginia Miesner or Mt. Bachelor Nordic Center.
Snowshoeing is a great way to explore the rolling terrain of Central Oregon with little prior experience needed. The snowshoe group meets at the upper Awbrey Glen parking lot at 8:30 AM, weather permitting, and usually ventures out to Virginia Meissner, Swampy Lakes, Edison, and Dutchman Flats snow parks.
Alpine skiers are a lot less organized. We usually run into each other (not literally) on the mountain. Tune your radio to 11-14 to communicate with the other Awbrey Glen skiers on Mt. Bachelor.
For those more interested in a relaxing indoor activity we have:
The Wine Education Group at Awbrey Glen brings wine enthusiasts together to discover, share and learn about wine. All Awbrey Glen members (and Guests) are welcome, from those new to wine - to educated connoisseurs. Come explore new wines, participate in wine/food pairings and, of course, make new friends.
Whether you play Duplicate Bridge or Rubber Bridge, Awbrey Glen has a group available to you.
Mah Jongg/Card Games
Are you looking for a fun way to spend an afternoon with your friends? Awbrey Glen ladies meet twice a week (Mondays at 1pm and Friday's at 11:30 for lunch/12:30 game) to play cards or Mah Jongg at the Clubhouse. Beginners are welcome and there is always a great time had by all.
